This Man Called Jesus follows the story of Easter from Palm Sunday through to Easter Day. The material has been written especially for Key Stage 2 Year Groups and was devised and developed with a Year 4 class in the half term leading up to Easter.
The material is divided into four sections.
# Section One contains all the information for the production itself.
# Section Two contains links to other curriculum subjects.
# Section Three links the material to the National Framework for RE.
# Section Four contains the full script of the play.
Finally, there is an appendix containing sheet music and wordsheets for the songs.
The play can be approached as a single performance, or the scenes may be divided up and performed by different classes on the same day or over a week. It is also possible to take just one particular scene and perform it in isolation. Minimum cast list is for 24 characters, with varying levels of acting and speaking ability, but other children can be incorporated into the production as disciples, crowds, Pharisees, singers and musicians. The material would also be suitable for use in a church situation, especially with midweek groups.
