Ben Witherington III exegetes Romans in this volume of his series of socio-rhetorical commentaries and offers fresh insights and a new translation of the Greek text of Romans. Demonstrating how post-Reformation interpretations have been too reliant upon Augustinian readings, he suggests studying the epistle in light of early Jewish theology, Rome's historical situation, and Paul's own rhetorical concerns.
