Wright argues that every world-view needs to explain seven ‘signposts’ that all human societies seek to follow: Justice, Love, Spirituality, Beauty, Freedom, Truth and Power. All cultures and individuals have an inner sense that we need to live up to these ideals, and we become frustrated when we fall short. Using the Gospel of John as his springboard, Wright shows how Christianity explains not only why we have these signposts but also why we so often experience them as ‘broken’ and unattainable. He also shows how Christianity provides us with the vision and resources for engaging with the questions posed by each signpost, thereby helping us to heal our broken world.
