The sisters were brought up in a musical environment, with both parents and siblings involved in the church choir. The sisters and their seven siblings were good enough to appear on the Bobby Jones Gospel show. When the pair grew up they both found work as backing singers, but during this time they had an eye on their later careers and spent their off-hours working on their own material.
