We all at least heard of the film when it came out last year, Billy Elliot is a film about a family from County Durham in the mid eighties, during the time of the miners strikes. We see how this effected the families involved and their struggles, but there is another struggle within the Elliot family, Billy, the youngest son does not want to be a boxer as his father is demanding him to be, but instead he wants to be a ballerina. The film brings up many questions throughout, but this book from Connect asks another, what does the Bible say about Billy Elliot? The struggles that existed then still exist now; maybe not in the historical events that are going on, but other issues such as masculinity, divided loyalties, social position and creativity are still very real today.
