These 52 meditations, one for each week of the year, explore in a fresh and imaginative way what it must have been like to be a contemporary of Jesus and to know and encounter him during his life and ministry on earth. We hear from char­acters both familiar and unknown to us - from Mary and Martha, Mary Magdalene, Simeon and Judas to the woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment, a servant at the wedding feast at Cana, and one of the five thousand who witnessed the miracle of the loaves and fishes.

Based on Bible passages and biblical themes - such as the potter and the clay - each meditation concludes with a prayer to help us to apply a message or truth contained in it to our own lives and journey of faith. Using an approach which is simple and yet often provoking and challenging, these meditations can be used to aid and inspire both personal prayer and group Bible study.
